Committee Reports

Community Service - Elizabeth Scott reporting
Our traditional events of bell ringing, highway cleanup, little libraries (we now have 16 locations) continue. This year we helped a refugee family resettle in the Holland area. In the next year the committee is looking to have a one-time service activity every month. A closer relationship with Holland Public Schools is being formed.
Challenged Students
We had our annual luncheon with the West Ottawa students and teachers.
Rotary HANWASH - John Gronberg reporting
Our district is participating in the global program to bring fresh water to all of Haiti. The first community with whom we will work has 385 homes.
Junior Rotarians
This program is on pause for the summer, but we hope that all of the local high schools will send a student to our meetings for a month in the fall.
Polio + District Fundraiser - Ed Swart reporting
The sky diving fundraiser started off well, but was interrupted by rain. There are some remaining jumpers who will complete their jumps later.
Our two fundraisers, christmas ornament sales and the evening auction, raised enough money for our pandemic limited activities.
Rotaract - Russ Miller reporting
The Hope College Rotaract Club had a number of challenges and did not start this year. The Lakeshore United Rotaract Club is a great success and continues to grow.
Youth - Catherine Ristola Bass reporting
We have 2 outbound exchange students and Maria from Brazil incoming. Maria will be at Holland High School. We sent 3 students to the district Life Leadership Conference.
International Service - Kathy DeVries reporting
Our Global Grant for the public sanitation project in Homa Bay with the Rotary Club of Kisumu Kenya has been funded. We continue to work with the Rotary Club of Denver and the Running Strong organization on the Pine Ridge water projects.
