Opportunity to Host Ugandan Rotarians
Are you looking for a great short-term international experience? We're looking for hosts for our Ugandan Rotarians (RC of Namasuba) who will visit from May 1 through May 4. If you are blessed with the gift of hospitality and a furnished spare room, why not consider this opportunity to welcome a visitor for a few days? Please get in touch with Loren Meengs for details.
Missing District Lottery Ticket
Attention all District Raffle Ticket Holders! Thank you to all who purchased 50/50 raffle tickets in support of District charities. We have one missing ticket stub! Please check your tickets! We are looking for the holder of ticket #0190 so that your ticket stub can be turned in with the others for the chance to win! Please contact Kathy DeVries if you are that ticket holder.

Rotary Youth Exchange

Our 2 outbound youth exchange students learned their destination for the next school year. Dee will be going to Argentina and Tia will be going to Thailand.

Maria Liz joined us remotely from her home in Brazil to tell us about her recent trip to New York City to participate in a Global Peace Conference. She was selected to participate by the Global Peace Chain organization. The goal of this organization is to "Build resilience by cultivating a culture of tolerance, inclusivity, interfaith harmony, love, and social peacebuilding across borders through peace education, like peace talks with community-based groups/organizations".

The topics of this particular conference were:
  • Building empathy for conflict resolutions;
  • Role of social media in minimizing ethnic violence;
  • Rising of Islamophobia;
  • Utilization of "AI" for educational opportunities;
  • Role of women in peacebuilding.
The speakers included diplomats, writers, AI engineers, and local US officials. The conference lasted for 3 days and Maria Liz felt that it was very worthwhile for what she learned and the contacts she made.
February is Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Month
