1st, 4th, and 5th Thursdays of the month are luncheon meetings. The 2nd week of the month is a service activity. The 3rd week is an evening social gathering.
Kathy DeVries was recently in Kenya, meeting with our Rotary partners. She will talk about the potential new project working with multiple hospitals to improve care.
Cathy Anthofer-Fialon and Bob Nida lead the middle schoolers at the conference through a personality test. She gave us a couple of the same exercises they used with the kids. The first was a sentence, and we were asked to count the number of letter Fs. The less detail-oriented people missed some of the letters in recurring words, like the word "of". The second exercise was the logo of a zoo that had pictures of animals in both positive and negative space.
The test that Cathy used with the kids is the Real Colors Personality Test. It identifies four core personality types—Gold, Green, Blue, and Orange—to help individuals understand themselves and improve communication with others.
Gold: Organized, dependable, and responsible; values structure and tradition.
Green: Analytical, logical, and independent; enjoys problem-solving and innovation.
Blue: Empathetic, cooperative, and relationship-focused; values harmony and connection.
Orange: Energetic, spontaneous, and action-oriented; thrives on excitement and adaptability
A major point for the students was to understand that it is important to have people with different skills in a group.
A group of local volunteers has formed the Holland Area Pet Memorial, a nonprofit organization. They are working to create a “Rainbow Bridge” memorial near the Holland State Park.
The rainbow bridge is a wooden structure, and Rotarians from the After Hours Rotary Club waterproofed the bridge on the 30th.
People are needed to paint the bridge after the wood is dry, sometime next week.
If you are interested in helping paint, contact Mike Moraw.
Hello Rotarians, It's the time of year to "repaint" the 17 Rotary book houses. Thanks to Lowe's, we received 2 gallons of Rotary colors. If you happen to visit Lowe's, please express appreciation to Rachael, the manager of the paint department, who donated the paint. Also, appreciation is expressed to all who support the Rotary Book Houses.
