District Governor Brianna ScottGovernor Brianna started by taking a poll on why people join Rotary. Some of the reasons are. - Professional contacts
- Family tradition
- Fellowship
- Service activites
- Employer requirement
Regardless of the reason for joining, most members stay because they recognize the value of service. Brianna's father was a Rotarian. In middle school, he required her to volunteer at the local hospital. She spent the first year not being happy about having to spend a weekend morning volunteering. However, she started to enjoy helping others. When invited to join the Rotary Club of Muskegon, she accepted and chaired the Community Service Committee. Many of the younger members wanted to be involved in hands-on service activities. The club partnered with Habitat for Humanity and a family with some disabilities to build a house for the family. By the completion of the project 80% of the club was involved. The Muskegon club has about 200 members. |
